The Core (Research) Working Group is a four-member team periodically appointed by the Executive Director and charged with the responsibility of defining and spearheading a research agenda for LEMU specifically on Land and Agrarian Questions. Their specific roles include, but are not limited to:
- Defining LEMU’s research agenda and conducting research;
- Writing academic and semi-academic publications under the auspices of LEMU;
- Spearheading the constitution, organization and coordination of panel discussions, seminars, and intellectual workshops on emerging and contested
questions on land and agrarian questions; - Convening an intellectual study group at LEMU and deliberating on topical issues
regarding land and agrarian questions in Uganda and the global south; - Participating and engaging in national, regional global conferences and workshops relevant to the work of LEMU;
- Supporting in fundraising initiatives for LEMU where necessary;
- Offering strategic support in building potential networks and strategic partnerships for LEMU;
- Offering strategic guidance on LEMU’s contribution to policy engagements;
- Offering support in building LEMU’s social movement initiatives i.e., campaigns.
