Promoting responsible governance of investments in land (RGIL)

Project Location: Lango region (Dokolo and Amolatar districts)
Funder: A CO-FUNDING BY GERMAN FEDERAL MINISTRY FOR ECONOMIC COOPERATION AND DEVELOPMENT (BMZ) AND EUROPEAN UNION (EU), IMPLEMENTED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE GOVERNMENT OF UGANDA
Duration: 2022 to 2023
Status: Running
Project Narrative: The specific objective of the project is that “investments in land are productive, contribute to sustainable land management, and respect the rights and needs of local populations in particular vulnerable groups and women.” The strategic approach of the project aims at strengthening the capacities of key stakeholders (governmental staff, selected investors as well as civil society and community representatives) and improve the regulatory framework for investment inland.

LEMU’s participation in the project implementation is a way to increase the participation of civil society organizations in the formulation and implementation of responsible land policies and sensitization of private agricultural investors on adherence to principles of responsible investments, which is a key focus of the RGIL project.

Disclaimer: RGIL as part of the “Responsible Land Policy in Uganda” (RELAPU) project is implemented within the Global Program on Responsible Land Policy as part of the German Special Initiative “One World – No Hunger” of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). RGIL is co-funded by the European Union.
