Awareness raising on land rights in Kabarwa and Kangole Sub Counties
Community-women from Kakurau parish in Kangole Sub-county, Bukede district participated in the group exercise 21st February 2022 to understand “from which family do land rights come from” under customary tenure. The exercise is carried out to derive people’s perceptions of land rights of the different categories of people under customary tenure. From almost all the communities, the rights of children at home were agued to be at the father’s home and not the mother’s maiden home. This argument was same for children born to widow. However the staff conducting the sessions emphasized the rights of such children with reference to the Principles practices, Rights and Responsibilities (PPRR) book.
