Richard Olong
Richard is an accomplished development expert with 25years working in the development/NGO sector, driving innovative and cutting-age development projects in Africa and Middle East. Richard currently works at Oxfam Denmark as the Regional Programme Manager for the Horn, East and Southern Africa and MENA Regions where he leads a
multidisciplinary team of professionals delivering high impact education programmes through effective and efficient grant making mechanisms in 23 countries. Richard is highly skilled and experienced in project cycle management, risk management, grants management and fundraising.
Previously, Richard worked at ActionAid Uganda where he oversaw the expansion of ActionAid programmes across the country and establishment and naturing of sustainable partnerships and networks in ways that drove tangible and positive changes by strengthening the leadership and governance structures of implementing partners. Richard is Known for his contagious enthusiasm and stakeholder-focused leadership. His extensive international travel has further enriched his perspective, enabling him to lead culturally diverse teams to success, inspiring them to embrace innovative approaches to tackle social and development challenges, and drive meaningful, lasting change.
Richard holds a bachelor’s degree in commerce (B’Com), Post Graduate Diploma in Project Planning and Management (PGDPPM), Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Management Studies (MMS). He is also a Globally certified Project Management Professional (PMP®)
